Canyon Lake Put Recreation Around a Working Reservoir

Canyon Lake began as a flood and water project. The land around it soon became a chain of public play areas. The Corps counts more than 80 miles of shore at the normal pool. Parks, ramps, camps, fishing, and swimming fill the coves.

There is no single front door. One side may hold a camp, another a boat ramp, and another a day-use park run under a lease. Water level, repairs, and crowds can change access, so the park and its operator matter as much as the lake name.
