Trinity River Audubon Center Is a Public Door into the Forest

If the Great Trinity Forest feels too big to know where to start, the Trinity River Audubon Center is the easy front door. Dallas Park and Recreation lists it at 6500 Great Trinity Forest Way, on 120 acres about eight miles from downtown, with around five miles of nature-viewing trails, indoor exhibits, and a building designed to put you right in the river landscape of southeast Dallas.

The center keeps regular public days and hours (generally Wednesday through Sunday) and runs school and family programs, so it works as a structured first visit instead of guessing at a random trailhead.

Treat this as a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Hours, programs, and closures change, so check Dallas Parks and the center before you go.
