Cedar Hill State Park Gives Dallas County Lake and Prairie Space
Cedar Hill State Park covers 1,826 acres on the shore of Joe Pool Lake in southwest Dallas County, and it opened to the public in 1991. TPWD lists it as a place to hike, bike, picnic, camp, geocache, swim, fish, boat, or paddle, all inside the county line.
The terrain is what makes it stand out from the flat freeway parts of Dallas. TPWD points to rugged limestone hills, rare pockets of native prairie, and lake access, plus the Penn Farm Agricultural History Center, where the Penn family worked the land from the 1850s into the 1900s.
Trail status, camping, boat ramps, events, and park alerts can change, so check the Cedar Hill State Park page on the TPWD site before you visit.
