The Annual Public Hunting Permit opens land across Texas

The current Annual Public Hunting program covers more than one million acres at more than 180 areas. The list includes TPWD land and land leased from other public and private owners. That statewide total does not promise a hunt near Gregg County or make every activity legal at every unit.

Use the current map booklet and unit schedule to choose a place, species, date, and entry rule. The permit is in addition to the hunting license and endorsements required for the hunt. A youth under 17 may enter with a permitted adult without buying a separate APH permit, but still needs a hunting license to hunt.

The Limited Public Use permit is for listed non-hunting recreation. It does not allow hunting or possession of firearms or archery equipment. Prices, participating lands, and schedules can change each permit year, so use TPWD's live program page when you are ready to go.
