Collin County Has a Long Tornado and Large-Hail History

The National Weather Service tracks Collin County tornadoes back to 1880, with the largest share recorded in spring. In April 2016, one supercell produced a record 5.25-inch hailstone in Wylie. The event affected about 80% of Wylie homes and caused more than $300 million in damage.
