Campus garden

The Gardens at Texas A&M are a public garden classroom

You don't have to be a student to walk The Gardens at Texas A&M. The university built this 27-acre public teaching garden as a living classroom for research, outreach, and recreation, on the west side of campus where White Creek runs. The site grew out of the West Campus Greenway that the Board of Regents set aside along the creek back in 1998.

The first piece opened in June 2018: the Leach Teaching Gardens, which hold 21 themed gardens, an outdoor classroom, an event lawn, a demonstration area, and a pavilion. It's a place to learn what grows in this part of Texas as much as a place to stroll.

Because Texas A&M shapes daily life in College Station, having a public garden open to everyone gives that campus a green front porch for the whole town. Check The Gardens' visit page for hours, parking, tours, and any event closures before planning a walk or photo session.
