Navasota, Texas

Navasota lies in the wooded country of the Brazos Valley about 22 miles southeast of College Station, near where the Navasota and Brazos rivers run through the transition between Central Texas and the East Texas timber belt. The town grew as a railroad and cotton-shipping point, and its old brick downtown reflects that trade-era history. It is widely associated with the Texas blues tradition, and a statue of explorer Robert de La Salle stands in the town in reference to the region's early history.

Property here runs through the Grimes Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Grimes County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
