Collin's Tax-Roll Downloads Are Programmer Files, Not Spreadsheets

Collin County's tax-roll downloads are bulk data. They are not a simpler version of the bill screen. For one home or one balance, use the Tax Account Lookup. The roll files fit a project that needs many accounts and can read a fixed-width ASCII file.

The main Tax Roll has current taxpayers for the latest tax year shown, plus delinquent amounts from current and prior years as of the processing date. The Delinquent Tax Roll drops the current-account side. Neither file is a tax certificate or title report.

The records cover real property, business personal property, and personal property. Fields include account and owner details, taxable value, exemptions, levy, and amount due. A layout document maps each field. The download does not arrive as a ready-made spreadsheet. New files are built on Saturday and usually appear Monday, except on holidays. The Tax Office does not give technical help or interpret the data. This format serves a project that needs many records. The account lookup remains the right tool for one property.
