Six State Parks Fan Out from Lubbock

The Lubbock list points to Abilene, Big Spring, Caprock Canyons, Copper Breaks, Lake Colorado City, and Palo Duro Canyon. The two canyon parks are the sharpest break from the level city. Palo Duro has more than 30 miles of trails. Caprock Canyons has bison, red rock, and nearly 90 miles of trails.

The southern choices have a slower pace. Big Spring is a day-use park with a loop road up Scenic Mountain. Lake Colorado City adds a lake. A park alert can change the plan, so open the park's own page the morning you go. That page carries trail closures, full-park notices, and pass links.
