Several special districts can add to your tax bill

Two Nueces County lots can look alike from the curb and still have different taxing units. The 2025 Comptroller directory names six Nueces County ESDs, DD #2 and DD #3, Nueces County HD, South Texas WA, Del Mar College District, a downtown management district, seven cities, and many school districts.

Those short labels need a key. ESD means emergency services, DD means drainage, HD means hospital, and WA means water authority. None of those names tells you from the street whether the parcel is inside the boundary.

Work from the address, not the subdivision name. A title commitment or appraisal-district account should show the exact taxing units tied to the property. That list is what turns into line items on the tax bill.
