Special Tax Districts: MUDs and PIDs in Tarrant County
Some Tarrant County homes sit inside a special tax district, such as a Municipal Utility District or a Public Improvement District. Those districts can add their own line to the property tax bill.
A MUD often helps pay for water, sewer, and drainage in newer areas. A PID may help pay for roads, lights, landscaping, or other improvements inside a set area.
That is why two homes on the same street can have different tax bills. The Tarrant County Tax Office tax-entity list shows which districts attach to a parcel.
