The City of Denton requires registration for short-term rentals

Inside Denton city limits, a short-term rental needs a new registration for each calendar year. Rules in force since January 1, 2025, add limits in RR through R7 home zones and in certain apartment developments. The city hotel tax is filed and paid each month.

The city rule stops at the city line. Check the city or town for the address. Denton County also charges a 2% hotel tax on covered stays of less than 30 days. The county tax applies in cities and unincorporated areas.
