Seabourne Creek Nature Park Has Prairie, Wetland, and Birding

Seabourne Creek Nature Park is Rosenberg's biggest park at 208.9 acres, and it preserves a piece of Texas that's mostly vanished under the suburbs around it: coastal prairie. The park holds 20 acres of restored natural prairie, a 6-acre wetland, and a 4-acre lake, and it sits on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail with more than 212 bird species logged so far.

That birding pedigree comes with a standing invitation. Rosenberg and the Coastal Prairie Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist lead free bird hikes on the first Wednesday of the month from November through May — a no-cost, guided way to learn what you're seeing.

Most people picture Fort Bend County as master-planned subdivisions and the Brazos River, so a prairie-and-wetland park is a useful surprise. If you want a slower, wilder outdoor stop near Rosenberg, check the city's park and bird-hike pages before you go.
