A Rain Tank Can Earn a Prairielands Rebate

As checked in July 2026, the Prairielands home rebate pays $1 for each gallon of new storage, up to $500 per household. The person and tank must be in Ellis, Hill, Johnson, or Somervell County. Send photos and itemized receipts. District staff must inspect the system. The full file is due by December 1, and awards depend on funds still being open.

Do not mix this rebate with the separate grant that can pay up to 85 percent. That grant is for an approved public show-and-tell project, not a normal home tank. Homeowners use the rebate form.

The rebate tank is for water you will not drink, such as yard water. Drinking it brings more health and plumbing rules. A pipe that could mix rainwater with public water also needs safeguards. TWDB and TCEQ have the official routes for those uses.
