Property Tax Has Two Separate Offices

The Stonewall County Appraisal District (SCAD) decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. It is located at 510 S. Washington St. in Aspermont. If you think your value is too high, you protest with SCAD, not the tax office. The Texas Comptroller lists SCAD's phone as 940-989-3363.

Once your value is set, the Tax Assessor-Collector sends the bill and collects payment. That office is at 128 Town Square Ln. in Aspermont, phone 940-989-2633. Eight taxing units each set their own rate: the county, five school districts (Aspermont Consolidated ISD, Rotan ISD, Haskell Consolidated ISD, Rule ISD, and Hamlin ISD), the City of Aspermont, and Stonewall County HD. Check both offices if you have questions about your bill versus your value.
