Mitchell County Has Two Separate Tax Offices
Two different addresses in Colorado City decide what you pay on a Mitchell County property. The Mitchell County Appraisal District, at 2112 Hickory St., puts a value on your land and buildings. The tax assessor-collector, a separate office over at 438 E. 2nd St., takes that value, applies the rates, and mails you the bill.
The split is deliberate, and it tells you who to call. Think your value is too high? You argue that at the appraisal district. They're the ones who set the number, and they're the ones who hear protests. Question about what you actually owe, or how to pay it? That's the assessor-collector. Phone numbers and the people answering them turn over, so the addresses are the part to hang onto: Hickory Street for the value, 2nd Street for the bill.
