One Office Handles the Value and the Bill
Lubbock's setup can surprise a newcomer. The Lubbock Central Appraisal District, or LCAD, handles both the value and the collection side of the tax process. It uses mass appraisal for more than 160,000 properties, including about 100,000 homes. For a house, it compares sales of similar homes in set neighborhoods. The value is for January 1.
LCAD is the place for a value question, exemption, protest, tax bill, or payment. If the value looks wrong, file a formal protest by May 15 or 30 days after the notice was mailed, whichever is later. Follow the current notice and LCAD's protest page.
