The Playa Drain Trail Adds a Valley Route
Not every El Paso outdoor trip is a mountain hike. Down in the Mission Valley, the City of El Paso has built the Playa Drain Trail, a paved route good for walking, biking, errands, and daily exercise close to home.
The city opened a second segment in 2023 — a nearly one-mile extension running from Knights Drive to Yarbrough Drive near Shawver Park, with benches, lighting, and picnic tables. It is one piece of the larger Paso del Norte Trail system the city is building across the county.
Before you use it, check the city trails page for open segments, crossings, parking, and the best access point for the part of Mission Valley you need.
