Trail Plan

The Paso del Norte Trail Is a Long-Range Plan

The Paso del Norte Trail is one of El Paso's biggest long-range outdoor projects. A City of El Paso report describes it as a planned trail of more than 60 miles running nearly the full length of the county, from the state line at Anthony south along the Rio Grande, with about 40 of those miles inside El Paso city limits.

The route is designed to tie together places residents already know — downtown, the Medical Center of the Americas, Chamizal National Memorial, the Playa Drain corridor, and southeast into the Mission Valley past the historic mission.

The honest part to keep in mind: this is not one finished path you can ride end to end yet. It is a system being built in pieces, and only some segments are open. Before planning a long walk or ride, check the city trails page, project pages, and maps for the specific stretch you want to use.
