Over-65 and disability exemptions go through Denton CAD
Denton CAD handles more than the basic homestead exemption. Homeowners age 65 or older, people with a qualifying disability, disabled veterans, and certain surviving spouses may qualify for extra exemptions. Those sit on top of the regular homestead break.
The over-65 exemption can also bring a school-tax ceiling. That can hold down the school portion of the bill, which matters on a fixed income. These choices happen at the appraisal district, not at the tax counter when you pay.
If someone in the household turns 65, becomes disabled, or inherits the home from a qualifying spouse, the right form needs to reach Denton CAD. That is what keeps the exemption, ceiling, and account lined up.
