Marriage License
Start a Montgomery County Marriage License Before You Visit
You can do some of the marriage-license legwork before you ever stand at the counter. The Montgomery County Clerk lets you start the application online and carry the transaction number in, or print and fill out an information sheet ahead of time, or just give the details verbally when you arrive. Starting online is the fastest of the three, but every license is signed and paid for in person.
Whichever way you begin, both of you have to show up together, bring proof of identity and age, and give Social Security numbers if you have them. The clerk handles vital records in Conroe, New Caney, and The Woodlands, so you can pick whichever office is closest to home or the venue.
One thing to build into the calendar: Texas runs a 72-hour waiting period for most couples between getting the license and the ceremony, so the courthouse visit needs to land at least a few days before the wedding, not the morning of.
