Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center Connects Boardwalk to Marsh
Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center explains Port Aransas in a small space. You start on a boardwalk, then the place opens toward salt marsh, grassland prairie, and an observation tower along the Charlie's Pasture south trail.
That trail connection runs 1.25 miles over salt marsh and grassland prairie habitat. A short birding stop can become a longer walk without leaving the preserve system.
The boardwalk is the gentle invitation. You can come with binoculars and a bird list, or you can come knowing very little and still understand why this low, wet ground matters.
The center is open sunrise to sunset and free to visit. The real value is the habitat. It gives daily access to the kind of place that makes Mustang Island a migration stop, not a line of rental houses and beach roads.
