County Park Stories & local character

Jacob's Well is a spring, a cave, and a county park

Jacob's Well looks like a dark blue opening in the bed of Cypress Creek, but the opening is only the front door. It is an artesian spring fed by the Trinity Aquifer and the headwaters of the creek that runs through Woodcreek and Wimberley.

Hays County protects the spring inside an 81-acre natural area with limestone-slope trails and Hill Country habitat. The park can still be worth a walk when the water is too low for swimming.

Swimming is a live condition, not a standing promise. On July 12, 2026, the park page said it was closed to swimming due to low water. Trail access, hours, and other rules can change too. The live park page carries those details.
