Fort Bend County is a pass-through route during coastal hurricane evacuations

Fort Bend County is outside the coastal evacuation zone and storm-surge area. Still, people leaving the coast pass through the county. Local leaders may also order an evacuation for inland floods or a major hurricane.

The county names SH 6, US 59, SH 99, US 90A, and SH 36 as evacuation routes. TxDOT may reverse traffic on some marked roads. That choice is made for each storm. Follow the county's live order and DriveTexas. Do not count on a lane reversal until officials announce it.
