Johnson County Falls in the North Zone for Deer and Turkey
White-tailed deer in Johnson County follow the North Zone calendar. The county limit is four deer total: no more than two bucks and two antlerless deer. A legal buck needs at least one unbranched antler or an inside spread of 13 inches or more. Only one of the two bucks may count under the 13-inch spread rule. Turkey is capped at four birds across all seasons combined, not four per county. Turkey harvest must be reported through Texas Hunt & Fish or online.
The zones do not all line up. Dove puts Johnson County in the Central Zone, while ducks put it in the North. Dates and bag limits reset every year. Use the current Texas Outdoor Annual before opening morning, not last year's notes.
