Property Taxes Have Two Front Doors in Johnson County
Property tax has two front doors here. The Central Appraisal District of Johnson County values property. It also takes exemption forms. If you protest a value, an independent Appraisal Review Board hears the case. The district does not set tax rates or collect the bill.
Cities, schools, and other taxing units set their own rates. The county Tax Assessor-Collector works out and collects bills for the units it serves. That office also handles vehicle titles and tags. Call the appraisal district about a value, exemption, or protest. Call the tax office about a bill, payment, title, or tag.
