Homestead exemption can lower your property tax bill in Lynn County

Start with the plain test: you own the home and use it as your main residence. Texas school districts must give a residence homestead exemption. Other taxing units can add local options.

The tax map still matters. Lynn County's directory includes Tahoka, O'Donnell, New Home, Wilson, and several other school districts or cities, so two homes in the county can sit under different taxing units.

File the form with Lynn County Appraisal District and include the ID information the form requires. If you are 65 or older, or disabled, ask about the added exemption too.
