I-10 Splits Guadalupe County's Dove Rules

I-10 is more than a highway here; it is the dove-zone line. For 2026-27, the Central Zone north of I-10 runs Sept. 1-Oct. 25 and Dec. 11-Jan. 14. The South Zone below I-10 runs Sept. 1-Oct. 25 and Dec. 18-Jan. 21. The daily bag is 15 doves combined, with no more than two white-tipped doves.

Adult dove hunters need a hunting license, Migratory Game Bird Endorsement, and HIP certification. The 2026-27 quail season runs Nov. 1-Feb. 28, with a daily bag of 15 and possession limit of 45; an Upland Game Bird Endorsement is required. Youth rules differ, so match the hunter and exact side of I-10 to the current Outdoor Annual.
