Goat Island Preserve Shows the Rural Side of the Trinity
Goat Island Preserve spreads across 637 acres in the southeastern corner of Dallas County, beyond Hutchins, Wilmer, and Seagoville. It rides the Trinity River Greenbelt and feels far from the paved trail loops downtown.
The preserve has nine miles of soft-surface trail, four ponds, and bottomland woods along the river. Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association helps keep the trail system in shape. The entrance is at 2800 Post Oak Road, where it meets Fulghum Road.
This is river-bottom land. High water can change trail conditions, so a wet week can mean a different ride or walk than the one you planned.
