Garage Sale
City of Dallas garage sales need an online permit
Inside Dallas city limits, a garage sale isn't a free-for-all on the front lawn. It's a permit. Every property address within the city has to have an approved garage-sale permit before a single item goes out for sale.
That permit covers an ordinary household sale and nothing fancier: it doesn't stretch to community sales, food vending, car washes, or flea-market setups. Who can pull one is spelled out too. Single-family homes, churches, Dallas ISD schools, and residential estate sales all qualify.
Get the permit through the city's online page before the signs and folding tables come out. And if the house is just past the city line in another suburb or out in the unincorporated county, those rules are different, so check the rules where the property actually sits.
