Use the effective map, not a preliminary Fort Bend map
Fort Bend's effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps are dated April 2, 2014. FEMA issued new preliminary maps in 2023. They cover Fulshear, Simonton, Weston Lakes, and parts of the county outside cities.
A preliminary map shows what may change later. It does not set today's insurance rate or federal flood-insurance rule. Search the address in FEMA's Map Service Center. Choose the effective panel and any later official update.
The federal rule generally applies when a building is in a Special Flood Hazard Area and has a loan backed or overseen by the federal government. A lender may require insurance in other places too. The county floodplain office can explain its map. The lender and insurer make their own coverage decisions.
