Check DriveTexas before a Gray County I-40 or U.S. 60 run
U.S. 60 runs through Pampa in northwestern Gray County. I-40 crosses southern Gray County and runs through McLean near the county's eastern side. A clear report on one corridor does not tell you what is happening on the other.
That split matters when Panhandle conditions change quickly. A closure near McLean may have nothing to do with U.S. 60 through Pampa, while a warning near Pampa may not describe I-40. Read the location attached to each alert, not just the county name.
DriveTexas shows closures, construction, road damage, traffic, weather impacts, rest areas, and available camera feeds. TxDOT says its reported conditions are verified by TxDOT employees or contractors.
Open the map close to departure, center it on the road you will use, and check again if the weather changes. A clear display is not a promise that pavement or visibility will stay the same.
For help the map does not settle, TxDOT travel counselors answer 1-800-452-9292 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. Automated travel information is available around the clock.
