McLean, Texas

McLean is a small town in Gray County on the High Plains of the eastern Texas Panhandle, about 73 miles east of Amarillo. The flat farm-and-ranch country around it lies along the historic route of old U.S. Route 66, which passes through the community. A restored vintage gas station and a Route 66 museum in town recall that highway heritage.

Property here runs through the Gray Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Gray County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
