Disabled Veterans Get Extra Property Tax Exemptions in Texas

Texas uses VA rating levels for partial property-tax exemptions. The full exemption on a main home has a stricter test than simply seeing 100% on one record.

The veteran must receive VA pay at the 100% rate for a disability tied to military service. The VA must also give a 100% rating or find that the veteran cannot work because of the disability.

Apply through Hood Central Appraisal District and include the required VA letter. A surviving spouse follows a separate set of rules and should use the form for that claim.
