Road Conditions Good to know

Check DriveTexas before traveling during storms

When storms, ice, or flooding are in the forecast, check Dallas County road conditions right before you leave. TxDOT points drivers to DriveTexas and its 800-452-9292 travel line for statewide road-condition information. Treat the map as one tool, not a guarantee that every trouble spot has been reported.

North Texas weather can change a drive quickly. TxDOT says winter speed limits are based on normal conditions, not icy roads. It also tells drivers to use extra caution on bridges, ramps, overpasses, and shaded areas. For flooding, the rule is simpler: if water is over the road, turn around.

If you are crossing the county on I-35E, I-20, I-30, or the Trinity River corridor, check DriveTexas, then leave yourself a slower route. If you see water, debris, flashing lights, or a barricade, do not test it; take another way.
