FM Roads Are State Highways Maintained by TxDOT

Many roads in and around Dallas County carry an FM number, like FM 1382 or FM 2551. FM stands for Farm-to-Market. These roads are part of the Texas state highway system. They are maintained by TxDOT, not the county, even when they run through rural areas.

If a state road in Dallas County is damaged or needs repair, report it to TxDOT's Dallas District at txdot.gov. County roads are roads without a state number. Those are maintained by Dallas County Public Works. Knowing which agency is responsible helps you report problems to the right place and get them fixed faster.
