The Dallas Arboretum Adds Garden Color to White Rock Lake
On the east shore of White Rock Lake, at 8525 Garland Road, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden fills 66 acres with seasonal flowers, ornamental shrubs, trees, and themed plant collections. Dallas Park and Recreation describes it as a display-garden setting on the lake, and the spring tulips and fall pumpkin village draw big crowds.
It gives this side of the lake a cultural identity beyond the trail loop: East Dallas as a place of gardens, horticulture, and seasonal events, not only open water and joggers.
One practical difference: the arboretum is a managed, ticketed destination, so admission, parking, events, hours, and closures are separate from simply walking the public lake trail. Confirm current details with the official Dallas Parks and arboretum pages before going.
