Cattail Marsh Turns a Beaumont Wastewater Project Into Bird Country
Tucked inside Tyrrell Park, Cattail Marsh is a roughly 900-acre wetland with a boardwalk and a Wetlands Education Center that overlooks it. The City of Beaumont describes a raised porch and classroom with views of birds and wildlife — and the marsh has earned a spot on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, sitting right under a migratory flyway.
It's a different side of Beaumont than the highways, refineries, and downtown most people picture. The city offers free van tours, kids' programs, and even Saturday-morning yoga out at the marsh, which makes a working wetland into something a family can spend a morning in.
Schedules shift, so treat the city's events and Cattail Marsh pages as the current source for programs, tour times, and access.
