Candy Cane Park Puts Play, Pools, and History in One Conroe Spot

Candy Cane Park runs 24 acres at 1204 Candy Cane Lane, and it started out as City and VFW Park before it grew into the civic anchor it is now. Three institutions share the grounds: the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County, the C.K. Ray Recreation Center, and the Conroe Aquatic Center.

Out among the buildings there's a pavilion, a gazebo, restrooms, a basketball court, tennis courts, play structures, picnic areas, a jogging and walking trail, and access to the swimming facilities.

That stacking of uses gives the park a downtown-square feel rather than a plain-playground one. A single afternoon can roll family play, a walk, a swim, and a stop through county history into one place — handy when you're entertaining out-of-town relatives or just killing a long summer Saturday. The recreation center and aquatic center keep their own hours, worth a glance before you build the day around either.
