Caddo National Grasslands Offers Hunting and Fishing in Fannin County

Caddo National Grasslands WMA is not one neat block on a map. Its 13,360-acre Bois d'Arc Creek Unit is split among six tracts, while the 2,780-acre Ladonia Unit has twelve. TPWD even cautions that some Ladonia boundaries can be hard to find.

The larger unit holds Coffee Mill Lake, Lake Davy Crockett, and four streams. Fishing, hiking, camping, biking, horseback riding, and wildlife watching share this public landscape, which the U.S. Forest Service administers with TPWD.

Most hunting uses an Annual Public Hunting Permit, though some hunts use a Special Permit. Hunters also need the proper license, tags, and stamps, and on-site registration is required. Check the current map book and unit map before treating any patch of woods as open land.
