Lubbock Businesses Must File a Property Rendition by April 15
Texas taxes business personal property — the tangible things a business uses to produce income, like equipment, inventory, furniture, fixtures, computers, and machinery. Lubbock Central Appraisal District requires the owner of that property to file a rendition report each year that lists what they have.
The deadline in Lubbock County is on or before April 15. The district allows a written extension if you ask in time, but filing late, or not at all, can bring a penalty added to your tax bill. The rendition is also what protects your right to challenge the value the district places on that property.
This catches more businesses than people expect: shops, offices, warehouses, food trucks and restaurants, contractor yards, and any equipment-heavy service. If that's you, pull the rendition forms from Lubbock CAD well before spring rather than scrambling in April.
