Bexar County Businesses File Personal Property Renditions With BCAD
Business personal property is not handled like a homeowner's furniture. BCAD's rendition covers tangible personal property used to produce income that a person owns, manages, or controls on January 1: things like inventory, furniture, computers, machinery, and tools.
Renditions are due to the appraisal district by April 15. You can get an automatic extension to May 15 with a written request, and a short further extension for good cause. Miss it and a 10% penalty is added to the property's tax for that year under Texas Property Tax Code Section 22.28. You can file by mail to BCAD's San Antonio P.O. box, drop it off at 411 N. Frio, or upload it through the district's portal.
If you run a shop, office, restaurant, contractor yard, or equipment-heavy home business, a small footprint doesn't necessarily mean you're off the hook. Confirm what needs to be rendered with BCAD before the deadline rather than after the penalty hits.
