A Presidential Archive and Family Gravesite Share the A&M Campus

On November 6, 1997, the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum was dedicated on Texas A&M's College Station campus. The Bush Library Foundation turned the new building over to the National Archives that day, making it the tenth presidential library administered by NARA. Its holdings cover George H.W. Bush's presidency and earlier public service through documents, photographs, recordings, and gifts.

Walk outside and the story changes scale. Veryl Goodnight's seven-ton bronze monument, The Day the Wall Came Down, shows horses leaping over broken pieces of the Berlin Wall. The grounds also hold the Barbara Bush Rose Garden and Presidential Pond. During visits to College Station, Bush used the pond to fish, walk his dogs, relax, and talk with people.

The Bush Family Gravesite rests behind that pond. George H.W. Bush, Barbara Bush, and their daughter Pauline Robinson "Robin" Bush are buried there. One campus walk can pass a federal archive, a Cold War monument, a garden, and the family's resting place.
