Get a Burn Permit Before Burning Brush
A brush pile in Hidalgo County is not something to light on a whim. Burn permits are handled through the Fire Marshal's office at 2814 S. Business Hwy. 281 in Edinburg, and one form of ID is required.
The county outdoor-burning page points residents to the Fire Marshal for permits, burn bans, exceptions, disposal fires, and state rules. It also points to Texas outdoor-burning rules in 30 TAC Chapter 111.
Call the Fire Marshal the morning you plan to burn. Wind, dry weather, and county orders can change the answer faster than a note on your calendar.
