Berry Springs Park Has Creek Shade Near Georgetown

A century-old pecan grove anchors Berry Springs Park and Preserve, on the edge of Georgetown along Berry Creek. It's the slower kind of county park, built around water and shade instead of ballfields and bleachers.

Inside it you'll find hiking and biking trails, fishing, picnicking, camping, covered pavilions you can rent, and a large playground. There are also two donkeys, Lil' Bob and Pedro, who hang around for visitors to see but not to feed. They're on a managed diet, and the park means it.

If you are booking the fire ring or making a camp weekend out of it, treat fire rules as a same-day check. The park page says the fire ring is not available during a county burn ban, and the county burn-ban page is the current-status stop before you load up for a weekend under the pecans.
