Midlothian, Texas

Midlothian lies in northwestern Ellis County, in the Blackland Prairie country about 19 miles south of Grand Prairie, along the Austin Chalk escarpment that runs through the area. The limestone of that formation made the town a center of cement manufacturing, and it is widely known as the cement capital of Texas, home to several large cement plants and a steel mill. Once a farming community, it has grown into an industrial and suburban city on the southern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Property here runs through the Ellis Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Ellis County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
