Zacate Creek Park Shows Laredo's Creek Habitat

TPWD lists Zacate Creek Park on the Laredo Loop as a day-use site. The hook here is the creek itself: TPWD says it has cut a scenic channel into bedrock right inside the city.

Along the reed beds, TPWD points birders toward Black Phoebe and Marsh Wren, and says summer brings strong habitat for dragonflies and damselflies. It's a small urban creek that turns out to be a real nature stop, not just a drainage line on a map.

Use TPWD's directions before visiting, and check City of Laredo park rules and the weather first. Creek parks can change quickly after heavy rain.
