White Rock Park Brings La Grange to the Colorado River

White Rock Park gives La Grange a direct, everyday edge on the Colorado River. The 23.5-acre day-use park sits on Mode Lane, about a mile downstream from the U.S. 77 bridge. LCRA developed it, and the city operates it.

A canoe launch and wildlife watching put the river at the center. A one-mile walking trail, picnic areas, restrooms, ball fields, a playground, sand volleyball, soccer fields, exercise stations, and an adventure course make the same ground useful even when nobody is getting on the water.

The park is open from daylight to dusk. Its character comes from the pairing: river access beside ball fields and picnic tables, with a short trail folded into both. At White Rock, the Colorado River is not a distant line on the county map. It is part of an ordinary afternoon in town.
