Private car sales in Brazos County run through the Brazos County Tax Office. The office handles title and registration work as a local agent for TxDMV.

TxDMV requires the buyer to title the vehicle within 30 days of the sale. Bring the signed title, Form 130-U, proof of insurance, and any lien release or power of attorney that applies. Sales tax is due at transfer.

TxDMV recommends that seller and buyer go to the tax office together. Staff can spot title problems before money changes hands. The county office is at 4151 County Park Court in Bryan.
