Most Henderson County cars renew without an inspection

Texas ended safety checks for most personal vehicles on January 1, 2025. Henderson County is not in the emissions program. Most local passenger vehicles now renew without either state check.

Commercial vehicles still need a commercial inspection. A special first-registration fee may apply to a new passenger car or light truck that meets the state test.

Use TxDMV's live page for fees and exceptions. Do not rely on an older county page that still mentions the former 90-day inspection rule.
